How would you compare Steinlager against Heineken?

steinlager is just not on the radar, doesn't really stand for anything anymore. if i want to drink a premium nz beer i drink macs or monteiths, so what's it got to offer? Heineken like the industry standard for euro lager. not too exciting but safe
When I think Steinlager I think America's Cup. Other than that I have to agree that they're not really on the radar. Agree that Heineken has become the new standard (good fall-back for when you can't decide what kind of beer you want (start with a Heineken) or if you're buying a drink for someone that says they want a beer but don't specifiy a type).
Steinlager I just think Rugby rather than the Americas' cup. Heineken feels more classy and I'm not sure why? It has a European image to me. Do Steinlager and Heineken even compare? Not sure they are in the same ballpark. Steinlager seems lower down to me
Agree with the above comments, Stenies have fallen off the radar both in NZ & overseas. Steinlager was the beer to drink in the 90s but it has lost it's appeal - Heineken has the 'european' advantage but doesn't have a lot more appeal.
Steineken? Heinlager? While it used to be a case of apples and apples I'd say Heineken has taken the great brand leap forward in this country due to it's A) foreigninity and B) not having 'lager' in the title.
All right, lets break this down to the simple fact that I'd rather be seen drinking a Heineken in Auckland(and probably anywhere else)than a Steinlager! Add to that the myth that Steinlager gives you a shocking hangover! Whats up with that? Any beer gives me a hangover!

Steinlager is simple not an option, Heineken is far easier to drink and has the added apply of an imported beer.

Agree, Steinlager has been associated with rugby for some time but Heinekin is a much nicer drop and easier to drink.
